The Vincent J. Stark Foundation

July 7, 2021 • Grants Update

LCSC is grateful for the fifth consecutive year of funding from the Vincent J. Stark Foundation to support our work with the underserved residents of Lakewood, Rocky River, and Westlake. This year’s grant of $20,000 is for partial salary relief for our foodservice team members who are now providing 100% home delivery to qualified residents in the above-named communities. LCSC made the pivot to 100% delivery effective September 1, 2020, after operating for five and a half months as a drive-thru/walk-up pantry in response to the Governor’s stay-at-home order effective March 17. The team is now making twice-monthly home deliveries to almost 3,000 individuals who have signed up for the service. In addition to home deliveries, LCSC continues to provide emergency food once a month to 400+ seniors in five subsidized senior buildings in Lakewood and Rocky River. Demand for both programs continues to increase, with 10-15 new requests for home delivery coming in every week.

About the Vincent J. Stark Foundation

The Vincent J. Stark Foundation was established in 2014 at the bequest of Vincent Stark lithographer and painter, a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio, and a veteran of World War II who participated in the Normandy invasion.

The Foundation supports organizations providing economic and healthcare relief to the poor and disadvantaged and promotes education in the areas of academic achievement, civic improvement, or arts and cultural benefits to Cuyahoga County and surrounding counties.
